On December 17, 1903, at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, the Wright Flyer became the first powered, heavier-than-air machine to achieve controlled, sustained flight with a pilot aboard. The aircraft flew a total of four times that daywith both Orville and Wilbur Wright at the controls. The photograph of the first flight is one of the most fanoius in the world. Who knew how the 12 seconds in the air of the first flight would change the world forever.
