The 94th was first formed in WWI on 20 August 1917 at Kelly Field and deployed to France where it became the famious Hat in the Ring squadron. One of its most notable pilots was Captain Edward Vernon Rickenbacker. Who later became the head of Eatsren Airlines.
During World War II the unit served in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations (MTO) as part of Twelfth Air Force as a P-38 Lightning fighter squadron, participating in the North African and Italian campaigns. It was during this time frame that Captain Rickenbacker gave out a Hat in the Ring pin that is very close in design to the one that was worn by the pilots of the WWI 94th. This WWII version pin is extremely arre and is provided here as a museum quality sterling silver reproduction. The pin is 1 inch wide as was the original and hallmarked sterling. Here is a chance to have the WWII version until a real one comes along.
