In WWII a group of Pilots took their wings to a British jeweler and had the wings clipped, sawed off and the pin backs resoldered on the wing. Why? They flew the B-26 Martin Marauder and they wanted a wing to match the stub-winged bomber.  This was stopped rather quickly by the commanding officer who was not to amused. This is a re-creation in sterling silver of that famous wing. It is doubtful that more than a handful of these ever existed. See Pages 56-57 of Aviation Badges and Insignia of the United States Army 1913-1946 for more information.
