During World War II fast Motor Torpedo Boats were build by various manufacturers. At that time each manufacturer made pins to give to crew members who manned the boats they build. These became the unofficial “wings” of the crews. Silver for enlisted and gold for officers. Also two types of badges were sometimes made, moving at speed or slow waves. This is a sterling reproduction of a Higgins badge for an officer with a 24k gold plate. This badge is 2 9/16 inches as was the original.
