WWI British Royal Naval Air Service was a separate air arm that came into being in 1912 and became official on 1 July 1914. On April 1, 1918 they merged with the Royal Flying Corp to form the Royal Air Force. When they started they were a reserve unit and the pilot had metal wings. This is a reproduction of those extremely rare Pilot wings in brass as were the originals. This is the mess dress size at 1 3/8 inches. I believe this is the only British wing ever issued in metal.
