In 1921 the Airship Pilot Badge (while it looks like a wing it was never officially called that) was introduced by the US Army. This is a very well made sterling silver museum quality reproduction of that badge 3 inch (Fox Design) with pin back as shown on page 71 of More Silver Wings, Pinks and Greens. This is also a heavy wing at approximately 2/3 of an ounce. Not many of these badges were ever made and are missing from many collections after all how many Airship Captains were there. Actually there were about 150. Also it is interesting to note that least 6 know designs existed and maybe as many as 6 of this badge. The badge was abolished on Feb. 20, 1940.
